Video game sales in Belgium reach €646M in 2025

Brussels, March 24, 2026 – Despite economic turmoil and consumers limiting their spending, Belgian sales of video game software, services and hardware (devices) reached €646 million in 2025*. Looking closer at the numbers, the Belgian market experienced a sales decline of physical full games and peripherals (or accessories). “Unit sales of physical full games (25%) continue to lose ground against full game downloads (75%). And we believe that the closure of all Game Mania specialized retail stores at the end of 2024 also impacted the sales of physical full games and peripherals,” explains David Verbruggen, General Manager of Video Games Federation Belgium. “Game Mania was widely credited as an important retail outlet for many consumers.”

Digital and mobile gain ground

Digital software for console & pc grew 1% compared to 2024. This segment now represents 38% of total revenue and includes full game downloads, in-game microtransactions, DLC (downloadable content), single game subscriptions, multi game subscriptions and streaming subscriptions.

The mobile segment represents 148 million downloads and grew 3% to 26% of total revenue, with Roblox climbing up the charts, cementing its success. Roblox is also popular on console & pc as it claims third spot in our most played top 5. The meteoric rise of Kingshot crowned it as fifth most downloaded mobile game, mirroring its global success with month-on-month growth throughout 2025.

Video game consoles are popular

Combined sales of peripherals and video game consoles represent 25% of total revenue, in line with 2024. In total 675.891 peripherals for console & pc and 253.466 consoles were sold. With only 7 months availability in 2025, the Nintendo Switch 2 managed to become the second best-selling console. Sony’s PlayStation 5 remains the best-selling video game device in Belgium, just like in 2024.

Also in our console chart at No5 sits the Hyper Mega Tech! Evercade, a super-compact, pocket-sized retro handheld that literally fits in someone’s back pocket. It features licensed retro games from publishers such as Capcom, Taito, Neo Geo, Atari and more. As the average age of Belgian gamers continues to climb, some consumers return to their favorite childhood games.

Big games sell well, get played and streamed a lot

Electronic Arts not only scores big with EA SPORTS FC26 and EA SPORTS FC25 but Battlefield™6 -released in October- sold extremely well on console & pc. The combination of the most recent Call of Duty premium games, along with Warzone, hold second spot in our most played chart. The success of Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a testament to Ubisoft’s track record in high quality games, made in Europe.

League of Legends and Grand Theft Auto V are the two most live streamed international video games. Belgian indie games Order 13, Koira and Flotsam are also getting a fair share of online eyeballs.
