This year’s study surveyed 24,216 active players (aged 16 and older) across 20 countries – significantly expanding the reach of the 2023 report. In addition to the original 12 countries*, the 2025 edition also includes results from Sweden, China, India, Egypt, Nigeria, South Africa, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Providing a truly global view.

The findings of the report confirm the positive impact of video games on people’s lives, with players highlighting the following key reasons for play:

  • Stress relief – 80%
  • Outlet to help deal with everyday challenges – 72%
  • Avoid isolation and loneliness – 64%

Beyond mental health benefits, players also report that video games improve their skills and represent a career catalyst. Players agree that video games can improve:

  • Creativity – 77%
  • Problem-solving skills – 76%
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills – 74%
  • Cognitive abilities – 74%
