Hands-on resources and tools to help navigate world of video games

Brussels, December 11, 2024 – Video Games Federation Belgium (VGFB), in collaboration with Video Games Europe and partners, is excited to share the Seize The Controls mini-site for consumers, dedicated to guide on safe and responsible gameplay in video games. With a large number of Belgian children and teenagers engaging with videogames, it has become essential for (grand)parents, caretakers and teachers to have the right resources and knowledge to guide children in making informed choices about video games.

The mini-site offers a comprehensive range of tools, tips and advice, including age-appropriate video game recommendations, guidance on loot boxes and account bans, parental control tips as well as strategies for communicating effectively with children about their gameplay and setting healthy video game limits. VGFB’s mission is to foster a safe and responsible video game environment where children can enjoy their favorite pastimes with minimal risks.

“In one of our recent surveys, it was clear that parents are convinced that video games can provide countless benefits, including improved cognitive skills and social interaction,” says David Verbruggen, general manager at VGFB. “(Grand)parents, caretakers and teachers play a critical role in ensuring these experiences are safe. Our mini-site Seize The Controls empowers them with the knowledge to monitor and guide children’s video game experiences.”
